Responsibilities & Requirements:
The Clinical Dietitian:
Provides quality medical nutrition therapy to a variety of patients, including nutrition assessment, diagnosis, intervention, evaluation, education, and monitoring.
Communicates effectively with other health care professionals.
Serves as preceptor/mentor for dietetic interns and department staff.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Accurately manages position paperwork (workload documentation, EMR documentation, etc.
).
Follows correct hand hygiene procedures (sanitizes hands before and after entering patient rooms, washes hands as needed, etc.
).
Utilizes appropriate scripting and responds to patient/internal and external customers (effectively uses HEAL principle, interacts effectively with medical and ancillary staff, etc.
)
Effectively and safely uses position equipment, performing applicable cleaning/sanitation procedures (cleans high touch surfaces per guidelines, able to problem-solve software and printer malfunctions, etc.
Uses electronic patient medical record (EPIC) and patient menu software (VST) correctly.
Able to accurately assess/evaluate patient population utilizing appropriate evidence-based documentation through the nutrition care process (completes malnutrition assessment and nutrition-focused physical exam when indicated, identifies and implements intervention, develops effective plan of care, writes appropriate orders as allowed, etc.
).
Utilizes nutrition care process to counsel patient population regarding nutrition-related diseases.
Job Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from a program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND®)
Completion of an ACEND®-accredited supervised practice program
Current dietitian license in the State of Ohio
Registration through the Commission on Dietetic Registration or able to obtain within 6 months of hire
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Computer literacy in business and nutrition software applications preferred
Preferred Qualifications:
One to two years’ clinical nutrition experience in acute or long-term care, with emphasis on nutrition support, diabetes or cardiac medical nutrition therapy preferred
