* Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products they inquire about.
* Inform customers of meat specials.
* Provide customers with fresh and frozen products.
* Recommend meat items to customers to ensure they get the products they want and need.
* Use all equipment in meat department such as the refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to company guidelines.
* Adequately prepare, package, label and inventory merchandise.
* Check product quality to ensure freshness.
Review "sell by" dates and take appropriate action.
* Verify countries of origin labels are correct for all meat products.
* Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
* Adhere to policies and procedures pertaining to safety, shrink, product dating, sanitation, temperature logs, and grinding logs.
* Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads.
* Understand how to properly weigh, wrap and tag product.
* Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
* Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and report unsafe conditions to store management.
* Practice preventive maintenance by properly inspecting equipment and notify appropriate department or store manager of any items in need of repair.
* Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
* Report all safety risks, issues, and illegal activity, including: robbery, theft or fraud to store management.
* Unload meat trucks using powered or manual jack.
* Understand how to breakdown and clean equipment, clean display cases, and dispose of product that is no longer suitable for sale (this involves contact with various cleaning products).
* Operate the baler.
* Support company initiatives.
* Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.

* Ability to handle stressful situations
* Effective communication skills
* Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction)
* Must be 18 years of age

Pay: From $13.
20 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
