Job Duties
Program Delivery: Leads individuals in group fitness classes Sets up and monitors class equipment and ensures its return in serviceable condition Presents a positive attitude and provides ongoing motivation to clients/participants Ensures that safety and injury prevention policies and procedures are adhered to by participants; reports incidents and prepares incident reports as required Follows the applicable standards required to perform duties safely for all participants
Customer Service Delivers class in a professional and timely manner Reports any client requests/concerns/feedback/issues to manager Addresses and resolves customer concerns in a timely manner with respect to professionalism Maintains a professional image (including adhering to established dress code) and exemplifies a well lifestyle Maintains confidentiality of client and participant information Answers participant’s exercise and health related questions accurately and appropriately
Program Design Conducts fitness assessments/testing by evaluating conditioning level of participants through non-medical measurements; interprets and advises members of test results
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
MINIMUM
DESIRABLE
Education, Credentials, Licenses: Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology, or related field.
Must have current CPR.
ACSM, NSCA, ACE or other nationally recognized personal training or group fitness certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
Specialized Knowledge: Experience designing and delivering exercise programs for groups and individuals Demonstrated knowledge of how exercise impacts health and improves/eliminates health risk factors including blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, stress management, heart disease, and obesity Knowledge of basic fitness assessment tools and techniques Ability to adapt exercise programs to meet the needs of diverse populations with varying exercise abilities Working knowledge of the principles of behavior change Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of fitness equipment and facilities Excellent customer service skills, outgoing, energetic, and encouraging Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in varying environments Professional and reliable Working knowledge of computers and basic Microsoft packages including, Word and Outlook Strong leadership abilities
Experience delivering one-on-one and group health education Utilization of fitness assessment tools and software packages Experience implementing the principles of behavior change to set goals and motivate individuals toward positive lifestyle enhancements
Kind and Length of Experience: One year of work and/or experience in the field of fitness/exercise including design and delivery of exercise programs for groups and individuals.
At least two years of experience in the field of fitness/exercise including design and delivery of exercise programs for groups and individuals
