The Exercise Science Program is located within the School of Human Services in the College of Education, Criminal Justice and Human Services.
The School also includes undergraduate and graduate programs in Sport Administration, Behavior Analysis, School Psychology, Counseling, Health Promotion & Education, and Substance Abuse Counseling.
The School is a leader in online course and program development, and there are many active collaborative activities across programs and with community partners.
About the Program The Exercise Science program at the University of Cincinnati is housed in the School of Human Services within the College of Education Criminal Justice, and Human Services.
The Program directly offers a B.
S.
in Exercise Science and a M.
S.
in Health and Wellness Management, with future plans to develop additional degrees and minors (including a graduate-level degree in the area of sport performance) and to pursue national program accreditation.
Students seeking the B.
S.
degree are interested in careers in strength and conditioning, fitness center management, wellness programming, cardiac rehabilitation, clinical exercise physiology and more.
The curriculum has a science base with robust applied practical learning opportunities and prepares students to sit for the NSCA-CSCS and ACSM-EP credentials upon graduation.
The M.
S.
in Health and Wellness Management is an online graduate program focusing on wellness program leadership and health and wellness coaching.
The Exercise Science program is located on the main campus of the University of Cincinnati, in the recently renovated Teachers-Dyer Complex.
The program oversees two lab spaces within the building, focused on strength, performance, and exercise physiology.
Both lab spaces are equipped with current technology and equipment for practical teaching and research activities.
Faculty within the program frequently collaborate with cross-campus and community partners on various research and service-related projects in the areas of fitness, sport performance, and wellness.
Job Overview The University of Cincinnati is seeking up to two faculty members to join our growing programs in Exercise Science.
Essential Functions The 9-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Exercise Science positions are responsible for: Maintaining an active research agenda in the area of Exercise Science including publications, presentations, grant writing and/or pursuit of external funding consistent with the Program and University focus on research excellence.
Teaching Exercise Science undergraduate and graduate courses including online courses such as exercise physiology, exercise testing and prescription, strength and conditioning, and related courses.
Mentoring undergraduate and graduate students.
Working collaboratively across disciplines within and outside the Program (e.
g.
, research, curricular development, service).
Assisting with program growth and development including curriculum and degree planning.
Engaging in university, professional, and community service such as committee participation, curriculum development, professional service relevant to the applicant's line of inquiry.
Minimum Requirements Prior to effective date of appointment: Earned Doctorate in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, or related field.
An active and thematic research agenda, evidenced by multiple peer-reviewed publications and presentations at the national or international level.
Submission of at least one external funding proposal.
Experience teaching at least two different undergraduate or graduate Exercise Science courses (online or in-person; instructor-of-record or TA experience is acceptable).
