GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: This is an office support position with the Cincinnati Public Schools (CPS).
This position is assigned the more difficult clerical and data entry duties in the support of assigned department/school.
Must be able to type, file and distribute a variety of documents for CPS.
Must be able to answer phone calls and respond to requests for information to provide general support and assistance to assigned supervisor and other Support Specialist.
Senior Support Specialists are assigned throughout the District, outside of the Student Services Department.
Senior Support Specialist (Elementary) are assigned to Elementary Schools.
Student Services Technician I’s are assigned to the Student Services Department.
EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED: (Illustrative only.

) Prepare, type, word process and proofread a variety of documents, including general correspondence, agendas and reports.
Delegate and oversee the work of clerical staff, new or recently transferred employees as needed.
Enter a variety of data and information in various computer data files and program.
Answer the telephone and provide assistance to other CPS staff and the general public.
Provide information on department/school policies and procedures as required.
Assist in the monitoring of calls, visitors and correspondence Route inquires and complaints to appropriate personnel.
File documents, reports and correspondence for department.
Maintain filing systems, both manual and computerized; assist in maintaining records for department.
Operate a variety of equipment, including a telephone, PC, copy machine and fax machine.
Input, retrieve, update data and text in computerized files.
Order, maintain and inventory supplies, materials and equipment for department.
May provide instructions and assistance to lower level, new and newly transferred employees.
May assume duties of absent employee within department.
May verify funds available for a variety of financial activities within department.
May compile, calculate, maintain and review department/school payroll; verify time sheets.
Perform related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS: Three years of responsible clerical work experience.
Possess a high school diploma or G.

and successful completion of a training program in the use of PC modules in word processing and data base.
Knowledge of: basic mathematical principles.
English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation.

MILITARY EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE EVALUATION: Military education and experience may be substituted for college level course work at the lower and upper division baccalaureate and graduate levels and apprenticeship training at the vocational certificate level on a case by case basis based on the American Council on Education (ACE) Military Guide recommendations.
PROBATIONARY PERIOD: 240 working days OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must have a valid Driver License.
This is a sensitive classification; therefore applicants for appointments must pass a security clearance, which includes a check of employment references and criminal records.
EXAM DETAILS: Exam Date: Friday, February 2, 2024 / Time: TO BE SET / Location:TO BE SET SUBJECTS AND WEIGHTS OF TEST SECTIONS: The selection process is worth 100% of the exam grade and consists of a written exam.
The passing score will be determined after the examination by the Civil Service Examiner together with the Secretary.
Determination of the passing score will be based on the job analysis, analysis of examination results, consultation with subject matter experts or other professional methods.
Veteran's points will be added to passing scores.
