VARSITY HEAD SOFTBALL COACH:
Performance Responsibilities:
Oversee the entire Girls Softball Program.
Develop and execute an effective training program.
Inspire and guide student-athletes to play competitive Softball.
Instruct/guide student-athletes to lead to the formulation and enhancement of moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline, self-confidence and good sportsmanship.
Motivate and mentor student-athletes on and off the Field.
Foster teamwork, sportsmanship, and skills development.
Manage game strategies and game day logistics.
Ensure the safety and well-being of student-athletes.
Cooperate in a timely manner, with School Athletic Office and the District Athletic Department, in regard to requests for pertinent information that might be periodically required.
Meet all requirements set forth by the District Board of Education, the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA), and the Ohio Department of Education (ODE) in regard to the required Coaches Tool Chest Trainings/Certification (CTC) and the ODE Pupil Activity Permit.
Model the behavior expected of our student-athletes including timeliness to practices, being positive and enthusiastic, being respectful, and practicing constructive criticism while upholding the disciplines of the program.
Set a positive example and maintain a suitable sideline conduct at all times.
Be dressed appropriately at all times.
Provide all applicable in-season training rules as well as any that may apply to out-of-season conduct to team members in writing prior to the start of the season.
Follow appropriate due process procedures when violations occur.
Check the status of academic eligibility for all prospective student-athletes.
Follow the District Athletic Department Policy as outlined in the Coaches Handbook and meet all criteria as outlined in the job description.
Recognize the need to be aware of and implement all applicable administrative policies set forth by the District Board of Education, Superintendent of Schools, School Principals, Conference Leagues, and OHSAA.
Schedule and complete a full season of contests including State tournament games.
Begin pre-season practices on the first day permitted for the sport.
Participate in clinics and other available programs to improve coaching performance.
Participate in School events (i.
e.
Awards Night, Pep Assemblies, Athletic Boosters Meetings, etc.
).
Show physical vitality and enthusiasm for the sport and use good judgment in decision-making.
Accept and profit from constructive criticism and suggestions for improving coaching performance.
Demonstrate the ability to adapt properly to changing game situations.
Is innovative in using new coaching techniques and ideas in addition to already proven methods of coaching.
Ensure that team is well prepared for opponents.
