Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) Instructor/Program Chair Overview: Cincinnati State Technical and Community College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) Instructor/Program Chair at our Main (Clifton) Campus location.
This individual will teach college-level courses to technical degree-seeking students in our Health and Public Safety (HPS) Division.
The OTA Program is seeking an individual who demonstrates a passion and appreciation for the role of the OTA in the occupational therapy process, and who is dedicated to the continuation of excellent OTA program outcomes of its graduates in the Tri-State area.
In addition to instructing students and providing relevant class/lab experiences needed to assist them in the successful completion of their program, the individual selected for this position will also provide OTA Program leadership and serve as Chair of the OTA Program.
This individual will be responsible for maintaining accreditation, revising curricula to meet accreditation standards, strategic planning, assisting with student advising, collaborating among program faculty, and working with the community to assure student success.
Faculty are expected to work collaboratively with other members of the Health and Safety Division and support the activities of the OTA Program, the Health and Public Safety Division and the College.
Essential Duties: Maintain ACOTE (Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education) accreditation by submitting on-time reports and completing required procedures.
Supervise the development of new courses/curricula and the maintenance of existing courses/curricula.
Review, evaluate, and recommend student textbooks and learning materials.

Ensure the effectiveness of all clinical affiliates is maintained by overseeing, monitoring, and communicating with the Academic Fieldwork Coordinator regarding student fieldwork placements.
Counsel and advise current and prospective OTA students.
Plan, develop, and use a variety of teaching methods and materials that assist students in meeting course objectives and that are appropriate for students with differing educational and experiential backgrounds and learning styles.
Actively participate in OTA, Divisional and College meetings and committees, including organizing and leading the OTA Program Advisory Board.
Keep accurate student records and submit related reports and forms within requested time.
Teach courses at a variety of times (day or evening) and locations in response to institutional needs, as well as ensure staffing needs of all courses within the program are met, following established course descriptions, course objectives, and accreditation guidelines.
Schedule the maintenance and upgrades of the Occupational Therapy Center, lab equipment and procure supplies.
Maintain and develop community relationships as required for the growth and success of the OTA Program.
Remain current in the Occupational Therapy field and ensure that course offerings and content are consistent with current trends, and College and accreditation requirements.
Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree from an accredited college or university Certification in Occupational Therapy as an Occupational Therapist or Occupational Therapy Assistant, and current licensure in the state of Ohio Minimum of five years of documented clinical experience as an Occupational Therapy Practitioner Core teaching experience of at least 3 years including participation in Strategic Planning, Curriculum Development, Student Advisement, Teaching, and Course Coordination; or at least 2 years of full-time experience in an academic appointment with teaching responsibilities at the postsecondary level Preferred Qualifications: Experience working as an OTA, or working closely with an OTA, in a clinical environment Experience with use of technology including an LMS (Learning Management System), such as Blackboard Familiarity with the ACOTE accreditation process which guides academic OTA programs Current professional association membership in both AOTA and OOTA Desired Competencies: Excellent interpersonal skills including written and oral with the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse professional, community, and student population Passionate team player who is self-motivated with strong organizational and planning skills Demonstrated skill in teaching, using applied academic methods, and willingness to explore new instructional methodologies Demonstrates sensitivity to students with diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds, and students with disabilities Knowledge and proficiency in use of a variety of computer applications and software Details: Reports To: Associate Dean, Health and Public Safety Division Position Level: Instructor Compensation: $64,977 (Master), $70,590 (Doctorate) Job Category: Faculty Bargaining Unit: AAUP1 Classification: Exempt Status: Full-time Benefits: Cincinnati State provides employees with high quality and cost-effective benefits with a variety of options: Medical Insurance (PPO- employer covers up to 92% of the premium, HDHP- employer covers 100% of the premium) Dental Insurance (employer covers 100% of the premium) Vision Insurance NO WAITING PERIODS!
