Xavier University is seeking applications for a 9-month Teaching Professor (non-tenure track) position in the Department of Counseling to begin August, 2024.
The department has 6 full-time faculty members and offers a CACREP-accredited MA in School Counseling and Clinical Mental Health Counseling characterized by a community engagement and social justice focus.
Successful candidates for this position must have at least two years of experience working as a school counselor in a K-12 educational setting and a doctorate in counseling or counselor education.
Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Responsibilities:
Teach, advise, and mentor students in the MA counseling programs, particularly students enrolled in the school counseling program
Actively contribute to the continuous development and assessment of the overall school counseling program
Assist with coordination of field experience for school counseling students, including maintaining contact with site supervisors and university supervisors
Maintain current relationships with school districts and community partners and work with The Office of the Graduate School to contribute to recruitment efforts on behalf of the school counseling program
Provide service, outreach, engagement, and leadership in the Department and College
Qualifications:
An earned doctorate in Counselor Education from a CACREP-accredited university (preferred)
Experience as a school counselor in K-12 schools (min.
2 years)
Knowledge of the ASCA model
Teaching experience at the university level
Eligibility for licensure in Ohio as a professional school counselor
Commitment to helping counseling students develop culturally responsive counseling skills that demonstrate awareness of diversity and social justice issues relevant to professional school counseling
Involvement in professional counseling-related organizations
