SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work cooperatively with all components of the program.
Maintain the confidentiality of staff and clients.
Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Participate in the annual self-assessment.
Attend staff meetings and training, as required.
Follow established child abuse reporting requirements.
Performance of any other work related task deemed necessary by direct supervisor.
Conduct weekly 90 minute home visits to young children and their families.
Carry out curriculum for child development and other family group activities.
Facilitate group “socialization” experiences and other family group activities.
Provide education and support services to families.
Work with families to establish a family development goal.
Promote parental involvement in curriculum planning, and socializations.
Monitor and educate parents about children’s health; medical and dental.
Provide parents with crisis intervention, and referral resource service.
Complete documentation of home visits, socialization experiences, and other activities.
Participate fully in supervision and training experiences.
Planning and providing activities to share with families in their home to meet the social, intellectual, physical and emotional needs of their children.
Plan and implement activities using the curriculum designated by the home-base program.
Maintain all enrollee’s records, assessments, and screenings.
Prepare learning activities and materials during “Preparation and planning” time, when children are not present.
Submit plans to site supervisor with requisitions for supplies.
Compile and maintain observations, documentation and evaluation of each child’s growth and development for the purpose of planning activities to suit individual needs.
Participate in the development of the education and/or special services plan for the individual child.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Prefer minimum of Associate degree in related field with minimum of three years program experience or BA Degree in Early Childhood Education.
Relevant experience with pre-school children or related background.
Capacity to problem solve, handle crisis, and work with families and children of various cultures from low income backgrounds.
Experience in teaching young children in a Head Start classroom and/or similar environment.
NKCAC-Head Start cannot employ anyone convicted of a felony or has been found by the Cabinet to have abused or neglected a child.
Ability to work with people of diverse and varying socio-economic backgrounds.
Willingness to work primarily in the homes of families residing in high-risk communities.
