English Teaching Position Starting the 2024 - 2025 School Year
St.
Xavier High School, founded in 1831 and the oldest high school in Cincinnati, Ohio, is an all-male Catholic college preparatory school sponsored by the Society of Jesus (Jesuits).
With an enrollment of 1400 young men from 3 states and 90 grade schools, St.
X takes pride in having educated more than 21,000 living alumni in the Jesuit tradition for more than 181 years.
The successful St.
Xavier teacher is dedicated to developing the whole person in academics, religious growth, and service to others.
The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to Catholic education and a willingness to work with talented and motivated students and colleagues.
The candidate should be capable of teaching English I (an introduction to writing and reading at the college prep level), English II (American literature), or English III (British literature).
Qualifications:
· A Bachelor’s degree in a related field—Master’s degree preferred
· Ohio teaching license, grades 9-12
· Knowledge in the latest methodology and pedagogy for teaching English at the high school level
· Familiarity with the use of technology in the classroom
· Ability to work with an interdisciplinary team
Responsibilities:
· Meet with students who need assistance outside of class time
· Communicate regularly with parents and administrators to ensure the success of each student
· Collaborate with colleagues on English curriculum development and implementation
· Collaborate with colleagues on professional growth projects
· Fully participate in homeroom and the life of the school
· Fulfill periodic substitution and prefecting responsibilities
