The School of Rock Music Instructor teaches students from ACDC to Zappa.
The Instructor creates a safe and cool environment for students to achieve their musical and creative potential and ensures that each School of Rock student has an exceptional musical journey.
In support of that goal, the Instructor is responsible for all music and education-related elements within the lessons.
School of Rock encourages their instructors to work the fundamental skills of music into lessons along with repertoire.
The Instructor creates a dynamic lesson experience to ensure their students are challenged and inspired.
The Instructor embodies rock and roll in a positive way and is responsible for creating a valuable student lesson experience.
We teach five core areas at School of Rock - keys, vocals, guitar, bass and drums.
Many of our instructors have broader musical talent as well which we do our best to engage.
Our students participate in performance-based programs and group classes.
Instructors who can teach one-on-one lessons and have the capacity to lead ensembles will thrive at School of Rock.
*Job Tasks* * Teach quality individual lessons for beginner students up to intermediate and advanced level music studentsMost students will be ages 7-18 who are beginner and intermediate level * Create and document thoughtful lesson plans using School of Rock’s patented music curriculum * Be sure the students are learning the fundamentals of music while they work on material for School of Rock performance programs * Assist during band rehearsals on an as-needed basis * Pitch in during downtime in the overall execution of School of Rock programming * Encourage and reinforce the community aspect of School of Rock * Customer ConnectionCommunicate regularly with parents on progress of students after lessons interact with parents and students regularly by being visible and accessible in the school * Basic maintenance in school (maintain a lesson room, ensure music equipment is accessible, assist with tasks around the building if necessary, etc.
) * Adhere to the SOR Code of Conduct, safety policies, including the Monitoring and Supervision policy *Skill Requirements:* * 4 + years’ experience teaching and/or performing music professionally preferred * Advanced drum technique * Formal training on drums * Experience performing music * Knowledge of basic to intermediate music theory * Curriculum design * Excellent ability to deal well with a wide range of customers and other people * Strong organizational skills * Resourceful and good problem-solver * Works well under pressure * Enthusiastic, flexible, patient, and positive demeanor * Good judgment a must * Passion for teaching *Extra Credit Qualifications* * Knowledge of Pike software * Knowledge of Method app * Experience as a performing musician * Formal music school training * Ability to read and use standard notation * Ability to run band rehearsals for students who play guitar, bass, drums, keys and vocalists _It is the policy of the School of Rock to provide equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, marital status, amnesty, or status as a covered veteran in accordance with applicable federal, state and local laws.
