Position Summary: This position is responsible for sorting, arranging in order, shelving returned materials and maintaining and retrieving material in all formats.
Job Description
Sorts and shelves books, magazines, pamphlets, audiovisual materials and other materials accurately for branch or respective departments.
Provides directional information to customers.
Retrieves materials for customers and processes requests from other agencies.
Shelf reads according to schedule for accurate order of materials.
Shifts and straightens materials as necessary.
Searches for misplaced or lost materials.
Assist with weeding, as assigned.
May pull materials requiring mending or binding.
May assist with training for new Shelvers as directed.
Regular and reliable attendance is required.
Required Skills
Must be able to sort accurately by alphabetical, numerical, chronological, Dewey Decimal order or departmental classification/shelving schemes.
