Position Summary: The Library Customer Adviser is responsible for interacting directly with library users by responding to both reference and circulation questions received via telephone, email, text, and other interactive technology platforms.
This position performs simple reference work.
DUTIES:
Answers a variety of general patron questions, primarily on the phone, and via email, text, and other interactive platforms as needed.
Assist remote users in accessing, downloading, and using the library’s collection of downloadable materials including books and audiobooks.
Coordinates with Materials Retrieval to assist patrons in searching for holds material.
Performs a variety of clerical duties including but not limited to data entry, filing, and the processing of materials.
Performs simple reference work and item searches in the catalog, as needed.
Refers patrons to a librarian for professional assistance.
Handles all inquiries and requests of customers, including interpreting the Library’s policies and procedures in a customer-responsive manner and resolving issues and questions swiftly or referring to other staff for assistance in doing so as needed.
Assist in handling registration and Sign up for Computer classes and Programs at Main Library, respond to and route web comments and streamline the process of checking the Main Library shelves for materials for customers.
Uses library automated circulation system to assist library users in renewing materials and working on their library account.
Regular and reliable attendance is a requirement of this position.

Must be able to move frequently throughout the work location for the majority of the shift and have the ability to safely, frequently, and independently move and handle a minimum of 30 lbs.

Must be able to work evenings and weekends.
Fluency in Spanish is preferred.

24 hours per week, including evenings and weekends.
This position is in an office setting at the Main Library in downtown Cincinnati.
SALARY:
Grade 4: $16.
19 per hour
