Position Summary: This position is responsible for sorting, arranging in order, shelving returned materials and maintaining and retrieving material in all formats.
Job Description
Accurately sorts and shelves books of various sizes (octavo, quarto, folio, etc.
), magazines, newspapers, pamphlets, microfiche, maps, audiovisual materials and other materials accurately throughout the Main Library.
Precisely shelves materials to ensure strong collection integrity for millions of volumes across a variety of item types and collections.
Provides directional information to customers.
Scans material into computer to assure appropriate check-in.
Works cooperatively with other Library departments/branches to complete Library goals/objectives.
Shelf reads according to schedule for accurate order of materials.
Shifts and straightens materials as necessary.
Searches for misplaced or lost materials.
Assists with weeding, as assigned.
Pulls materials requiring mending or binding.
Works with a wide variety of material types and collections contained within eleven floors and two buildings.
Works closely with Sorters and Pages to ensure workflow processes are being met daily.
Prepares carts of materials for delivery to appropriate locations.
Responsible for routine and timely delivery or pickup of materials throughout the Main Library.
Assists with training for new Shelvers as directed.
Assists with special project work involving material movement.

Must be a full-time student or high school graduate or GED equivalent.
Must be at least 16 years of age.
Hours
20 hours per week.
No evenings or weekends are required.
Monthly parking stipend offered.
Salary
Grade 2: $13.
56 per hour
