Instructor – Crane Maintenance & Service Technician (Level 1 and Level 2) (Full-Time and Part-Time/Contractor Roles are Available) ITI instructors conduct training programs related to cranes, rigging, and heavy equipment at ITI Training Centers as well as at ITI customer locations around the world.
Instructors also serve as Consultants at times, and conduct field services including accident investigations, crane and rigging audits, procedure development, and other advisory services.
We are looking for people who have: Industrial Experience: Level I: 10 years of experience working in a construction and/or industrial environment with a variety of crafts and team member roles, and; 5 years of experience working as an Overhead Crane Technician, Level 2: 20 years of experience working in a construction and/or industrial environment with a variety of crafts and team member roles, and; 15 years of experience working as an Overhead Crane Technician, with comprehensive knowledge of: With comprehensive knowledge of: Overhead crane operation and inspections ASME Standard B30.
2 and OSHA regulation 1910.
179 National Electrical Code NFPA 70 Applicable safety rules and use of PPE when working on energized equipment Single phase and three phase power systems Use of AC and DC control voltage, incl.
Emergency stop circuits Electrical motors: squirrel cage, slip ring, pole changing etc.
Variable Frequency Drive VFD technology PLC control systems Conventional magnetic control systems (relay and contactor control) Function and adjustment of electrical components like Phase-Monitoring relays, timers etc.
Inspection and maintenance of mechanical brakes, transmissions and winches Construction of wire ropes and how to inspect and maintain them Electrical schematics Working on and around mobile equipment such as forklifts, aerial work platforms, telehandlers, skid steers.
Professional Communication Skills: ITI prefers people with experience conducting training, public speaking, team lead/foreman/superintendent capacities, as well as, audits, technical writing, curriculum design, and incident investigations.
Excellent communication, presentation, facilitation, and team-building skills which create a great classroom and outdoor learning environment, so students are engaged and interactive.
Excellent interpersonal communication with students and customer management personnel.
Ability to write, administer and report on various documents such as written and practical exams, class rosters, attendance, timecards, expense reports, customer email communications, and customer-facing reports.
Learning & Development + Risk Management Professional: Is a life-long learner, demonstrates experience or a strong passion to become a professional instructor.
A passion for going the extra mile with the class and individual students, and love to see a student’s “light bulb” moment.
Passion and ability to learn new training programs quickly.
A passion to help customers create a safe work environment for their workforce, by eliminating or reducing risk through education, skills enhancement, and other solutions.
The ability to travel and be away from home up to 20 nights per month.
Instructors may also assist in the development and editing of training materials and customer presentations.
Instructors must live within a reasonable driving distance to a major airport, and ITI prefers candidates who live near an ITI Training Center: · Houston, TX · Woodland, WA · Memphis, TN · Cleveland, OH · Chicago, IL · Tampa, FL · Edmonton, AB Compensation Annual Base salary ranges: Level 1: $60,000 to $75,000 Level 2: $75,000 to $95,000 depending on experience, training credentials, and education.
In addition to pay, this position is eligible for ITI benefits including healthcare, 401(k) (up to 10% company-match), PTO (3.
5 to 6.
5 weeks depending on seniority; in addition to ITI Healthy Instructor Recovery Weeks), an annual bonus (paid quarterly) based on the number of training days (tenured Instructors often earn $6,000 - $8,000 / year), and Unit Appreciation Rights.
