Job Overview The University of Cincinnati Educational Leadership & Policy Studies program seeks to hire a full-time, tenure-track assistant professor focused on educational leadership, administration, and/or and policy issues in K-12 settings.
Relevant research areas may include but are not limited to: School leadership or educational administration; K-12 educational policy or reform; school finance; school law; labor or economics of education; or other similar topics.
About the Department The Educational Leadership & Policy Studies program at UC is in a period of expansion.
Our mission is to prepare excellent leaders for excellent schools and to seek, generate, test, and share new knowledge for the transformation and improvement of the profession.
We seek to embody the principles of social justice, caring, diversity, and collaboration in authentic and tangible ways in all aspects of our practice.
Our faculty is focused on conducting meaningful research that speaks directly to the challenges facing today’s educational leaders, particularly those in high-needs schools or districts.
As an urban-serving institution, we also encourage scholars to apply who are interested in research regarding and in collaboration with urban communities.
We currently offer four degree-granting programs in service of those goals: (1) a thriving principal preparation program – including both a master’s and graduate certificate program, (2) a master’s degree and graduate certificate program in higher education administration, (3) a Ph.
D.
program in Educational Policy & Higher Education, and (4) an online Ed.
D.
in both K-12 and higher education leadership, with a focus on transformative, inclusive leadership.
Essential Functions Maintaining an active, rigorous research agenda in K-12 education policy/leadership and securing external funds in support of that agenda.
Teaching face-to-face and online graduate-level courses for both pre-service principal candidates and doctoral students, such as but not limited to Educational Leadership Theory and Educational Equity and Diversity in Higher Education.
Advising master’s and doctoral students and supporting their research.
Engaging in university, professional, and program service, such as but not limited to participation in continuous program improvement and new program development, as appropriate.
Supporting the mission of our P-20 Educational Leadership program and of the university—a large, urban, research-intensive institution.
Minimum Requirements All of the following prior to effective date of appointment: Doctoral degree in educational leadership, education policy, or closely related field.
Evidence of a developed and focused program of research and scholarly activity in the field of educational leadership and policy studies, as evidenced by 1 peer-reviewed journal article or book chapter.
At least 1 academic year, which could have been completed consecutively, of university teaching experience.
This experience may have been gained as teacher of record or teaching assistant.
