GIFTED INTERVENTION SPECIALISTS (4)
Starting Date: August 12, 2024
Southwest Local School District is seeking FOUR (4) Gifted Intervention Specialists for the 2024-25 academic year.
A successful candidate will be selected for each of our 3 elementary schools (Crosby Elementary, Harrison Elementary, and Miami Whitewater Elementary) and for Harrison Junior School to provide both pull-out and push-in services for our Talented and Gifted students.

Applicants must complete the application for employment using the Applitrack system and must have current BCI/FBI background checks.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will skillfully assume responsibility for the organization, administration and supervision of the Gifted Education program for the school where he/she is staffed.
He or she must possess:
- Successful teaching experience at the elementary or middle school level
- Successful experience delivering Gifted education services
- Successful experience working in both pull-out and push-in models of Gifted service
- Outstanding collaboration, communication (written and verbal), problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
- An ability to adapt district curriculum to provide individual, small group, or whole group instruction to meet the needs of our advanced learners
- An ability to communicate with administration, staff, parents and families regarding academic progress
- An ability to collaborate with staff to help plan for and provide enrichment opportunities for students
- An ability to encourage students to think critically, creatively, and independently
- An ability to design and execute professional development for staff that aligns with the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce’s definition of High-Quality Professional Development for Gifted Instruction
- A demonstrated ability to effectively evaluate students using multiple measures for formative and summative assessment
- An ability to select, administer, and score cognitive assessments
- A demonstrated ability to make data-driven decisions
- Knowledge of teaming and co-teaching strategies and/or experience working with such programs
- An ability to select appropriate instructional materials for high-achieving students
- A resourcefulness to seek out instructional programming and learning opportunities for high-achieving students on or off-campus
- An ability to maintain professional competence to stay at the top of his/her professional game through in-service education activities provided by the district and in self-selected professional growth activities
Employment contract: 183 days
Compensation: Highly Competitive, commensurate with education and experience
Start date: August 12, 2024
