Position Summary: Kenton County Public Library is seeking to hire a full-time Patron Experience Library Associate II.
Our Patron Experience Dept works to cultivate an environment of engagement that connects people with the library and each other.
This position, in coordination with the Patron Experience Librarian II, will design inclusive and welcoming spaces focused on users' wants and needs.
The Library Associate II also regularly works on the Public Service Desk providing direct customer service to our patrons.
Hours are varied but will primarily be evenings Monday through Friday including most Friday evenings.
Occasional weekend and after-hours work is required.
Responsibilities:
Demonstrates effective public service skills, and an understanding of public library operations.
Supports "patron first" practices.
Collaborate with Programming team to ensure that programming spaces are comfortable, attractive, stimulating, welcoming and creatively utilized.
Book/schedule/set up meeting spaces for library events and outside groups.
Prepares comprehensive written report on monthly activities and compiles appropriate statistics on meeting room attendance.
Represent Patron Experience team at large events for all ages, including after-hours events and reoccurring teen events.
Oversees branch Volunteer program including reviewing applications, providing orientation, and supervising volunteers.
May orient, train, assign, and check the work of other staff members or volunteers.
Provides accurate informational and circulation assistance to patrons; staffs all public services desks in all departments.
Act as Staff-in-Charge in the absence of the Branch Manager and Department Heads.
Enforce Code of Conduct and other policies/procedures proactively and impartially.
Other Duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree preferred; high school graduate or equivalent and some college required.
Able to communicate effectively with all ages and to work well with patrons
Must possess excellent customer service skills, as well as be a self-starter and problem solver.
Must be able to get KDLA certification.
Requires ability to handle patron complaints and difficult situations involving patrons.
Knowledge and familiarity with computers and new technology.
Must be able to sit, stand, bend, kneel, reach and retrieve items weighing 20-30 lbs.
